iPad

Keeping Talki Kids Open on iPad

Guided Access is an iPad feature that can help keep the child inside one app. A parent or caregiver starts Guided Access after opening Talki Kids, then uses a passcode to leave that mode.

  1. 1Open Settings, then Accessibility, then Guided Access.
  2. 2Turn Guided Access on.
  3. 3Set a Guided Access passcode.
  4. 4Open Talki Kids.
  5. 5Triple-click the top button or home button.
  6. 6Start Guided Access.

Android

Keeping Talki Kids Open on Android Tablets

App Pinning, sometimes called Screen Pinning, can help keep one app on the screen until an adult unpins it. The wording and location of this feature vary by Android device.

  1. 1Open Settings, then Security or Security & privacy.
  2. 2Find App Pinning or Screen Pinning.
  3. 3Turn it on.
  4. 4Open Talki Kids.
  5. 5Open Recent Apps or Overview.
  6. 6Tap the Talki Kids app icon.

Display

Lenovo and Android Rotation Settings

If Talki Kids rotates unexpectedly, check the tablet display settings. Lenovo, Samsung, and other Android tablets may use different names for rotation controls.

Android

Settings -> Apps -> Talki Kids -> Storage / Storage & cache -> Clear storage or Clear data

iPad

Touch and hold Talki Kids -> Remove App -> Delete App -> reinstall from App Store

Important local data warning

Clearing Data Can Permanently Remove Local Customizations

If families clear app data, delete the app, or reinstall the app, local Talki Kids information on that device may be permanently removed.

This may include:

  • custom pictures
  • My Information details
  • Parent settings
  • hidden or shown categories
  • hidden or shown tiles
  • favorites
  • Social Scripts learned follow-up patterns
  • voice/settings preferences
  • other local customizations

Once local data is deleted from the device, Talki Kids cannot restore it from inside the app unless the family has saved or backed up that information separately.
